Kootenai Environmental Alliance

The Kootenai Environmental Alliance (KEA) located in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, was founded in 1972. It is the oldest non-profit conservation organization in Idaho. It was organized in response to extensive environmental degradation to North Idaho's forest and water resources. KEA's mission has remained the same since the organization's inception: to conserve, protect and restore the environment with particular emphasis on the Idaho Panhandle and the Coeur d'Alene Basin. KEA is deeply rooted in the local community and is respected for its views on environmental issues. Our grassroots collaborative approach has brought positive change in support of the environment and quality of life.

We've Hired a New Employee !

Terry J. Harris, our new conservation advocate, comes to Kootenai Environmental Alliance from Baltimore, Maryland where he was an attorney and long-time community and environmental activist.  He served as interim Executive Director of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, founded the Baltimore-based Cleanup Coalition, served on numerous Boards and Commissions, and has a broad base of experience in land use, brownfield redevelopment, and pollution issues.  Terry will be concentrating on Kootenai Environmental Alliance’s lands program, working to promote smarter growth and more sustainable development in our region.
