KEA asked the US Forest Service, once again, for their annual monitoring reports. Here, in the summer of 2010, we’re still waiting for 2007 and 2008 reports.
Kootenai Environmental Alliance (KEA) is deeply concerned about the current state of monitoring efforts in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest (IPNF) and today submitted a letter to Ranotta McNair, Forest Supervisor.
Under the adopted forest plan the agency is required to submit annual monitoring and evaluation reports to the public. Reports for both 2007 and 2008 have yet to be issued. The USFS responded to an October inquiry from KEA with a November 27, 2009 response letter that noting that the 2007 and 2008 Reports were not available “due to other priorities” but provided assurance that both reports would be issued in the spring of this year, 2010. Spring has come and gone and we are still waiting.
