Environmental Programs Coordinator
Job Title: Environmental Programs Coordinator
Summary: Implement, develop and maintain the organization’s land use program and other environmental issues when needed.
Responsibilities:
--Review, analyze, and write comments on development proposals.
--Attend and present written and oral commentary at public hearings related to land use.
--Keep up to date on local government comprehensive plans and related land use ordinances and state land use laws.
--Organize and educate new neighborhood groups on land use issues.
--Work closely and coordinate with grassroots individuals, established neighborhood groups, decision makers, developers and government agencies.
--Attend and participate in relevant hearings, meetings, workshops, and conferences related to land use.
--Work on other issues as needed.
--Make public presentations before groups.
--Write and distribute press releases.
Qualifications:
--Self motivated and passionate about the environment.
--Expertise and experience in all aspects of land use issues including PUDs, comprehensive plans and land use ordinances is essential.
--Experience working with grassroots groups, agencies, decision makers and with developers.
--B.A. or B.S. degree.
--Knowledge of other environmental issues a plus.
--Five years experience in the environmental field that includes research, grassroots organizing, and public speaking.
--Excellent written and oral communication skills.
--Experience working with print, radio and TV media.
--Demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with volunteers.
--Enable and foster relationships with stakeholders and decision makers.
--Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
