Water Conservation Incentives
Water conservation incentives in conjunction with the City of Coeur d'Alene conservation utility credit.
The Kootenai Environmental Alliance and the City of Coeur d'Alene are working together for water conservation. The first program the city has initiated is a residential landscape conservation utility credit.
Eligible residences must be owner occupied single family dwellings on the Coeur d'Alene Water System. The rebate credit being offered by the City will cover 75% of the cost the customers pays (up to $75) for a rain sensor, soil moisture, or hose bib timer. All three of these tools prevent over watering, which is a real problem in the inland Northwest.
Rain Sensor/Switch: stops your automatic irrigation system from watering when rainfall is doing the job. a rain sensor or switch will temporarily disengage your irrigation system until the rain has stopped.
Soil Moisture Sensor: eliminates unnecessary watering by monitoring the irrigation schedule. Soil moisture sensors will override the call for water if the sensors indicate enough moisture is already present in the soil.
Hose Bib Timer: turns off the hoses and sprinklers at pre-set times. Eliminates the need to worry about forgetting to turn the sprinkler off.
